Dr. Gholami is an experienced gastroenterologist who specializes in all aspects of gastroenterology and liver disease. He is an expert in diagnostic, therapeutic, interventional endoscopy, and is particularly passionate about complex pancreatic and biliary diseases.

  

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Dr. Gholami completed medical school with honors at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. After completing residency in Internal Medicine at University of Southern Califonia (USC Medical Center) he continued his fellowship training in gastroenterology, hepatology (liver disease), and nutrition at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU Medical Center). He then pursued advanced fellowship in interventional endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatograpthy (ERCP) at Kansas University (KU Medical Center). He then joined as a faculty member and assistant professor in the division of Gastroenterology at University of North Dakota's major teaching hospital (Sanford Medical Center Fargo) where he became an expert in managing all aspects of complex gastroenterology cases.

HONORS

Dr. Gholami is double board certified, Diplomate in the American Board of Internal Medicine and Diplomate in American Board of Gastroenterology. Dr. Gholami has been a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) since 2009. He also served as a clinical instructor at Kansas University Medical Center from 2012 to 2013. Dr. Gholami has remained active in teaching as an assistant professor of medicine at UND in the division of Gastroenterology since joining its major teaching hospital in 2014.

Dr Gholami has many publications in American Gastroenterology Journals. Some of his honors includes being awarded first place in Research by American College of Physicians in 2008 and the Research Lock Award by USC in 2007, standing in highest level at yearly national internal medicine exam and medical board exams. One year experience of treating hundreds of Barrett’s esophagus with new innovative methods including CellVizio and cryotherapy. He has continued to champion colorectal and GI cancer prevention and management by providing high quality care with using novel techniques and treatment modalities. Dr. Gholami’s dynamic set of expertise includes managing complex and large colonic polyps and neoplasia, challenging pancreatobiliary diseases and neoplasia, luminal stenting, gastrointestinal bleeding, complicated pancreatitis with fluid collections, necrosis and pseudocysts, inflammatory bowel disorder, liver disease and cirrhosis.
